KenChar Line Review

HEY GUYS!!! SO I am finally back with another review. I haven’t done a review on my blog in a long tim, but I am back and I am VERY excited about this review.

Today I will be reviewing a line from a line called KenChar. So Let’s Jump Right into it.

So let’s start with the Soy Candles!

Candles

This was the 1st thing I’ve ever purchase from them. They are 100% Natural. These are considered their candles. So they are great on go if you are looking for a something to take with you when traveling. They have a wide variety of scents and I tell you NO lie…they smell EXACTLY how the label says AND once it’s lit it smells exactly how it does in the tin. The fragrance can fill the entire room so you don’t need multiple candle to scent one space. These are my absolute favorite candles I’ve ever purchased. My Personal Favorites are: Strawberry & Southern Peach.

Body

I was sent A few of their body products, The Coconut Lime Hand Whipped Body Butter, Coconut Flakes Scrub and the Island Body Sunflower and Shea Body Cream. The Coconut Flake Scrub is AMAZING! It creates a really nice “milky” kinda of lather and make it really feel Spa like. It beads that they used are very fine, so it is very gentle on the skin. I’ve only used one other scrub in the past and this one is just so different in texture and the consistency is something I’ve never seen in a scrub before. This is definitely something I HIGHLY recommend. ¬†The Coconut Lime Whipped Body Butter is amazing! I is very moisturizing and kept my skin smooth all day. It also gave my skin a nice little “glow,” which I was really surprised about, something different. I wasn’t a really body butter lover in the past because I felt they were just TOO greasy. BUT, this one wasn’t, it absorbed¬†right into my skin without sticking out to my clothes. Another thing I want to mention is the Shea Scents pocket-sized butter tins (not pictured). These are great to carry in your bag to re-moisturize your hands or body. I also used this to add moisture to my hair as well. Lastly, The Island Body Sunflower & Shea Body Cream it is a lighter texture so it still moisturizes¬†very well, but not over whelming. The scent is more of a floral, unlike the Coconut Lime, which is more or an herbal/fruity scent.

Now One to the most exciting things that I was scent….THE HAIR PRODUCTS!!! Now I have been buying KenChar candles for the past 2-3 years…and I NEVER knew they sold hair products.

Hair

First thing I tried was the Curly Roots Coconut Conditioning Cream. At first when I looked at it, I thought it was a styler of some sort. But, after reading the label It says I can use a regular rinse-out conditioner, a deep conditioner or even a leave-in. So I tried it out ALL 3 three ways, on 3 separate occasions. YES, this 3oz container got at least 3 good uses out of it. Personally, I preferred it as¬†a leave-in or a rinse out conditioner. It worked OK as a deep conditioner, but I did doctor it up with some oils because¬†I needed ALOT of moisture. But as a leave-in it left my hair super soft and left a really nice sheen to my hair. The Butter Curls Moisturizing Styling Butter was my favorite. I use as a styler for twists outs & braid outs. This stuff is amazing! The smell is nothing “special” like all the other ones, but it doesn’t smell bad at all. It performed really well and gave a great hold and really nice shine. My hair was soft fluffy and silky. Even when Fernando touched my hair I used this, he was like , “O, babe what you use, your hair feels really soft.” So this Styling is everything! LOL Lastly is the Curly Roots Conditioning Pomade is a really nice pomade I use to take down my twist/braids and I also used it to seal my ends. It not heavy and does not leave my hair feeling greasy so that is a PLUS!

Overall, I enjoyed the entire line. I can honestly say this is the first time I’ve reviewed a line and have NOTHING negative to say. Everything performed better than expected and to top if off everything is competitively priced with everything else that is out there. And honestly why not spend that money on an ALL natural, black owned business line. Definitely check out their site at,¬†www.kencharbody.com and click the sop tab! You will NOT be disappointed at all. And if you are ever at a Circle of Sisters Expo or anything like that check to see if she has a table, most of the time she probably will, but for sure at Circle of Sisters, which is by the way coming up October 2015.

It’s a Review: Ouidad Curl Co-Wash Conditioner

I was contacted my a representative of Ouidad, and was given the opportunity to try out their new Curl Co-Wash Conditioner (Sulfate, Silicone & Paraben Free).

This product is described as being, a rich low-lathering, sulfate-free cleansing conditioner that leaves the hair moisturized , soft and frizz-free while gently clearing hair of buildup.  It is for all hair types and textures.

It contains Black Cumin Seed Oil, Jamaican Black Oil, Rosemary & Sage Oils. Which these oils are great for conditioning and refreshing the hair and also delivers great shine.

I co-washed my hair in six sections. I allowed it to sit in my hair for about 5 mins or so, then detangled with my double detangler (which is also by Ouidad) , and rinsed my hair out. **NOTE: The double detangler was purchased by myself over a year ago. I have spoken on it before in the past and you guys know I LOVE that comb

I absolutely enjoyed this co-wash conditioner. It was fairly easy to detangle, which was a  pleasant surprise. Once I rinsed it out, my hair felt soft and have a nice sheen to it. The lather was less than a shampoo, but more than a regular conditioner, I would say it is a happy medium, especially if you are more into co-washing (and not into shampooing). I feel like my hair and scalp were both clean but was not stripped.

List of Ingredients: Aqua (Water/Eau), Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Nigella Sativa Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Fragrance/Parfum, Citric Acid, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Limonene, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone

Pros:

  • Smells great
  • Has a pump
  • Very Thick & Creamy
  • Great Slip
  • Leaves my hair with a nice sheen

Cons:

  • The Price. Even though I personally don’t mind the price, I know a lot of people aren’t looking to spend that much. There are other products I have used to¬†co wash¬†with that give me similar results. But that low-lather in a conditioner is very rare to come by. If you are someone who co-washes daily, it may not be economical option.

Other than the price I¬†actually¬†really like This product. I will¬†definitely¬†continue to use it here and there until it is done, however I don’t think I will be repurchasing it, strictly because of the price. But if I do ever want to splurge, this is¬†something¬†DEFINITELY¬†worth splurging for.

Quickie: Do You Really Love Your Curls??

I sometimes wonder,¬† why bother to cut all your hair and go natural, if you‚Äôre just¬† going to cover it w/ a wig or sew-in; and then say I’m love my curls! But how much can u really love them, if u never show them. I mean I understand protective styles, and would probably understand if you’ve been natural for longer than 6 months, but you’ve only been natural for a month or two. Think about the last time u wore your hair out in public without a wig/weave and then ask yourself that question again, Do u really Love your natural curls??
