Natural Hair

My Favorite Styling Products

So I wanted to quickly list some of my favorite styling products (Don’t forget to check out the video as well, HERE!).

Chocolat_Smoothing_Collection

For blow drying, right now I am using the Carol’s Daughter Chocolat Smoothing Line.  I don’t blow dry my hair that often right now, but when I do I do reach for this line. I really have been enjoying. Tip: When using the blow dry cream, DO NOT apply a leave-in conditioner  before applying the blow dry cream. Your hair will feel like it has some build up. The Blow Dry Cream acts as a leave in and heat protectant. If you feel you must apply something before, use a light oil i.e., coconut oil or grapeseed oil.

I having been loving the Carols Daughter Healthy Hair Butter. I’ve been using pretty since I went natural. It is a great moisturizer. I also is great for braid out, twist out, etc.

I prefer to use this on dry hair. for the most part. I have used it on wet hair in the past but this is another product that if I use on wet hair I do not use a leave in conditioner, instead I will use an oil. I also like using this product with another favorite item, the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie! I like using these together when I want a more fluffy braid/twist out. I always leave my hair soft and light, but still with a nice hold and definition. If I use these together it is also usually on old hair.

I have also been loving the Cantu For Naturals Line. Particularly, the Twist and Lock Gel and the Coconut Curling Cream0081751301003_500X500Let’s start with Coconut Curling Cream. I really like this for when my hair is dry. for lift definition braid outs and twists outs. I use it in conjunction with my leave if used on wet hair. I did a full review on this item a while ago so make sure to check that out for more details. Now the Twist and Lock Gel has flew to the top of my favorite list!!! It makes great for twist out, braid outs, roller/flexi rod sets.cantu_shearbutter_twist_lock_gel This is product that I used in my twist and curl video! and if you watched that you guys know i enjoyed it so much! It is extremely moisturizing and gives a great hold and definition with out flaking of stiff. Check out my review as well Here for more details! Another thing from the Cantu I like is the Shine and Hold Mist, for a quick shine aid. Hold and Shine Mist are a dime a dozen but I particularly like the smell of this one, as well and the Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Hold and Shine Mist.

Two things from Carol’s Daughter’s that I like but don’t get to use that often, not for any particular reason, are the Loc Butter and the Macadamia Hold & Control Smoother. The Loc Butter has Great Definition and is very moisturizing. As far as the Macadamia Hold & Control Smoother, I really ONLY use it to style my edges and THAT’s all. Once I am out of it, I probably wont’ buy it again. But it is a good edge control that does not flake or get hard and greasy. Every now and them I will reach for my Eco Styler Gel Argan Oil if I want a really slicked up puff or if I am doing my Marley Bun. I use if if I am trying to wear a particular style for an extended period of time. My Shea Butter Mix will always be in my product box. I mostly use it for now for oiling my scalp and braid outs on dry hair.

The use of my styling products depend on what look I am going for and/or how long I want the style to last. As my hair gets longer I am more inspired to try different styles. As I’ve stated before the summer is the time for my to experiment and enjoy the length I have gotten, and fall/winter my hair goes into hibernation and back to focusing on my hair goal.

What are some you your favorite styling Products??
